Bali is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. This Indonesian island is one that evokes thoughts of a real tropical paradise. With scenery that is amazing, flora and fauna that is a feast for the eyes, and sites and attractions aplenty, there are literally countless things to do in Bali.

Inhabited for over 4000 years, the island now has a population of almost 4.5 million individuals. Lying just 2 miles to the east of Java, and just a few degrees south of the equator, Bali has an area of just over 5,500 sq. km.

Bali has something for everyone, whether it’s families, singles, couples, groups, adventurers or back-packers. Great beaches, great surfing and great diving are, of course, the mainstay of a beach holiday, but Bali is so much more. A rich, diverse culture and people that are among the friendliest on the planet make this island a true paradise on Earth. So stay at a Bali hotel, take some Bali tours for some sightseeing, do some Bali water rides, or visit some of the magnificent Bali temples that are dotted around the island. Make your visit to this exotic location one to remember.

Really beautiful pictures, makes me want to go! What resorts or hotels are your favorites to stay at? Might be a subject for your next post!

    Hi Tony,

You have written wonderfully about various interesting places to visit.

I’m glad that you covered Bali because although my late dad hailed from Solo, Indonesia, I’ve never stepped foot in the country. Believe it or not. But seeing how beautiful you said Bali is, you stirred my interest in going there and perhaps visiting my roots, Solo.

Think one of my target places would be Mt Batur. What can I say, that photo is just breath-taking.

Understand Bali is popular with tourists from as far away as US and Canada – looking at the places to visit and the rich culture of Bali, need we ask why?

Bali is an absolutely stunning location. I think you should definitely try to visit. You’ll be able to discover your roots and have a great holiday at the same time. Just make sure there is plenty of space for photo’s on your camera’s memory card – you’ll need it.

Absolutely stunning place is Bali. Maybe you could send in some photos for me to share once you get back?

I have been to Bali once before and found it to be an enchanting place will many varied and wonderful things to do and see. In our 2 weeks in Bali we did not even see any of the things you have described in your post but I was reminded how beautiful and historic a place Bali is.

One of the most exciting tours we did was up into the hills where we had the chance to see local farmers going about their crop planting. Did you know that no matter what the job is in Bali, they all get paid a similar amount per week? I found that to be amazing but as a local story it was also one hard to confirm, seemed to be true though as a few of the locals confirmed what we had been told.

When we were there we were able to do a tour of the house and land of a typical Balinese family, an eye opening event for us. Did you have any more exciting places to show us before we decide to go back?

Many thanks for that great story Steve. It’s always refreshing to hear an alternative story to the typical ‘touristy’ things we normally hear.

One of my dreams and one of the places left to visit is Bali, I’m hoping on my next trip, I can do a stop over on my way back from Singapore.
I must say your Photography is beautiful, and it makes you want to book your ticket asap.. 🙂
