Nikos Kazantzakis was a leading novelist of20th century Greece.

And if that doesn't ring a bell, he's the one who wrote the original'Zorba the Greek,' which was turned into a successful film and started the syrtaki dancecraze in the 1960s.

Kazantzakis was a Cretan, which means he hashis own museum about 20 kilometres south of Heraklion.

You can drive or take a bus fromthe city, and you'll be there in about half an hour.
